JesusBranded

Hello all,

So I haven't been on Xanga in almost a year!

And I'm not going to lie, I'm really only on here in hopes of getting a free T-Shirt. ha.

But I'm here to let everyone know that I support JesusBranded.

JesusBranded is a sweet Christian apparel company. I met a few really awesome dudes last year at Cornerstone Festival who were with JesusBranded. They taught me how to breakdance.

I had a booth across from theirs all week at the festival, I got a chance to have a couple really good conversations with them. And I just remember thinking JesusBranded was for super cool people. ha.

So incase there is anyone out there who may still look at my Xanga or who may just happen to run across this, check out JesusBranded. It's for super cool people.

Jesus Is Not Interested In Mediocrity

I grew up always feeling like I was supposed to do something big. I didn't know what...but I always felt like I wanted to do great things for the Lord. When I was in junior high...it wasn't necessarily for the Lord...but I just had the desire to do something big. (Now I realize that God was tugging at me even then.)
Sometimes I felt bad about this desire. I felt like I was being selfish. Even my parents at one time questioned whether or not this was just me wanting something big for me.
But I think I've come to a realization.

Jesus calls us all to do great things! If you are a Christian, you have been called by Christ to do great things.
Jesus didn't say, "Well, if you want, you can follow me. You can invite others to follow me too...if you want."

He tells us to get off our butts and start living for him. Not only by what we do with ourselves, but by telling everyone and their mom about him.
He said, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations...teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
Jesus has made it pretty clear what our mission is while we're here on Earth, and that is to spread the good news!

If we don't think we will do great things, we probably won't. I don't have anything to back that up, but to me it makes a whole lot of sense. Some people may stumble upon greatness, but when it comes to telling people about Jesus and spreading the good news, you will never have a big impact on the kingdom unless you have the mindset that you absolutely will.

And keep in mind that when I say "great" and "big", I don't mean by worldly standards. I don't mean that by doing something "big" for God, I think I have to change more lives than Billy Graham, or sell a million copies of my book on the Church. I mean big in the eyes of the Lord, big as far as the kingdom is concerned. Whether that's tutoring little kids who don't know Jesus, giving food to the homeless and using that as an opportunity to spread the good news, or just helping out wherever needed at your church, you have to have the mindset that you will do great things for the Lord through whatever you are doing.

The more I learn about Jesus the more this becomes a reality to me: Jesus doesn't want a partial effort. He wants your everything.

"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it." -Matthew 16: 24 & 25.

Mediocre Christianity is not an option.

It is a rare occasion these days when I am inspired so greatly by something that I decide to make a xanga post.

But I have made an incredible discovery. I have found a tv show that has changed my life. And by changed my life I mean I watch it a lot.

The show is Man vs. Wild. It is a show that shows you how to survive in some of the most dangerous areas and terrains of the world.

But even more intriguing than the show is the star of the show. This British explorer is the greatest and most skilled outdoorsman of all time. He is a man with the wisdom of a Jedi Knight, the power of a Grizzly Bear, the prowess of a Scandanavian Olympian, the skills of a Japanese Martial Arts Movie Star, and the courage of a Persian soldier.

His name is Bear Grylls, and he is 200% man.

About Bear:

-At age 23 he became the youngest British climber to conquer Mt. Everest.
-He spent time serving for the British Special forces.
-He once broke has back in three places in a parachuting accident. Rumor has it he pulled a McGyver and put his spine back into place by tying it back together with his shoe string. He then ate a 7 lb. can of chocolate pudding, just for fun.
-He crossed the Frozen North Atlantic in an inflatable boat, unassisted.
-He holds two world records: One for hosting a dinner party at a table while hanging from a hot air baloon 24,000 feet in the air, and another for paragliding over Mt. Everest.

-He probably taught Roger Federer how to play tennis, and Wayne Gretzky how to ice skate.

In his show on the Discovery Channel, Grylls strands himself in remote areas with extreme conditions to show how to survive.

If you flip the show on, you may find Grylls eating raw fish straight out of the river, crawling through glaciers, shimmying up coconut trees, climbing a volcano, using a shovel to paddle through the arctic in a row boat, or killing venomous snakes simply by staring at them.

Grylls once jumped into a deadly quick sand pit, just to demonstrate how to get out of one.

Here's to you, Bear Grylls. Here's to you.

I've come to a point in my life where I really realize how much I need God. It's become pretty clear to me that I can't do a whole lot on my own. I absolutely need the Lord with me in everything I do.

I've learned that when you completely give something up to the Lord, and truly have faith, he will provide for you. And I have also learned the opposite. Every time I start to feel like I am small and helpless, and every time things start to pile up and seem to be too much to handle, I realize that it has gotten that way because I haven't allowed the Lord to take control of the situation yet.

It seems like I would have learned this somewhere along the way by now, and I guess to a certain extent I have. But for some reason it hasn't really hit close to home until recently. I feel like I really grasp it more now, than ever. It's pretty nice.

2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
